Surrounded by lush countryside and originally constructed in the early Nineteenth Century, this charming home had been subject to subsequent unsympathetic alterations. These additions were ill-proportioned, leaving the house lacking adequate storage space, and incompatible with modern living for a young family.
Recognising the need to reconfigure, Naomi designed the layout of the ground floor to restore the proportions of the principal rooms via the formation of a new kitchen from a previously under-utilised storeroom. The result is a collection of well-connected and large family-friendly living spaces that reflect the status and architectural integrity of the house.
Wishing to respect the historic context of the Rectory, Naomi ensured that the refurbishment of the house retained quirky details such as internal windows, as well as the careful repair of historic joinery using traditional techniques. This, paired with a subtle pallet of colours and fabrics, sourced antiques, and traditional cabinetry, has resulted in a quintessential family home.
